Phase 1 of the Health Education England e-Learning for Healthcare and the College of Paramedic’s ‘e-Learning for Paramedics’ project was launched at the College of Paramedics’ annual conference on the 9th May 2017. This is a contemporary learning programme designed for the ‘modern paramedic’ which paramedics can now access for free.
College of Paramedics members can now access almost 50 ‘bite-sized’ sessions separated into five (5) module topics:
- Clinical Decision Making
- Mental Health
- End of Life Care
- Pain Management
- Law and Ethics
Module authors have ensured that all of the learning is applied to paramedic practice, with a focus on problem-based learning and case studies. Each module has been developed under the leadership of module editors with an expert interest in their respective subjects.
E-Learning for Healthcare’s (e-LfH) ‘Instructional Design’ team has made every effort to make the theory elements of each session as interactive as possible. All sessions include case studies relevant to paramedic practice, which helps make the theory ‘come alive’. This is then followed by an opportunity for you to test yourself.
Every session is ‘bite-sized’ and shouldn’t take more than about 20 minutes to complete. The intention is that individual sessions can be completed on any personal device, whenever you get a break. You can also choose to access single elements of each session (Overview, Case Studies, Self-Assessment, Summary) each of which can be completed in less than 10 minutes.
Register through the e-Learning for Healthcare platform at e-lfh.org.uk/programmes/paramedics
Every session has been developed so it can be used on any device; Smart Phone, Tablet, Laptop, or PC. So you can access CPD whenever and wherever you choose. You can register in five minutes with an NHS or MOD email address, or through Open Athens.
All people with NHS or MOD emails or Open Athens Accounts have access to Phase 1 by registering at this address: http://portal.e-lfh.org.uk. If you have none of these, we are currently looking at how we get you access. If you have any further queries, please get in touch. email@example.com
This project has been undertaken in partnership with Health Education England’s e-Learning for Healthcare team (e-LfH) who pride themselves in developing clinically credible online learning for health professionals. Every session has been developed with the support of e-Learning for Healthcare’s ‘Instructional Designers’ by a clinician with a specialist interest and significant experience in the subject. All sessions are then scrutinised by a Module Editor all of whom are paramedics leading on a national scale in their specialist subjects. The ‘Project Steering Group’, which has overseen the project, constitutes representation from key strategic groups, including the Association of Ambulance Chief Executives, the National Education Network for Ambulance Services, the Forum for Higher Education in Paramedic Science, the College of Paramedics’ Education Advisory Group and Health Education England.
