Research and Development Advisory Committee

A very warm welcome to the College of Paramedics’ Research and Development Advisory Committee (RDAC). This page provides information about RDAC and our activities relating to research developments within the College and the Paramedic profession.

The Research and Development Advisory Committee has a strategic role in shaping research policy and activity on behalf of the College of Paramedics. It coordinates and supports the activities of researchers and action groups and promotes awareness of research. There are many opportunities for members to become involved in research within the Paramedic profession and RDAC will help support you and the profession in maximising research potential.

Remember this is your specialist group and it exists to further research undertaken by our members and the Paramedic profession, to improve patient care, and to raise the threshold of the professional standing of our members. The RDAC is here to encourage clinicians to engage in research activities that can further the evidence base underpinning Paramedic practice.

We have provided direct links on this page to useful resources, policy documents, events etc pertaining to research so if you have any material that you would like to see included here, or if you have any questions about the committee please contact Julia Williams (chair of RDAC) at: research@collegeofparamedics.co.uk

We hope you enjoy this site and please keep checking back for hot-off-the-press news about research developments and research activities.

Research degrees: is this a pathway for you?

Many paramedics are undertaking Masters level study as well as doctorates, and there are currently others starting to think about this type of activity as part of their career progression. There are different types of post-graduate opportunities to consider and one development pathway involves undertaking a higher level research degree.

For those of you considering research degrees, there are a variety of opportunities available and some of these have government and/or local funding available.

Competition for funded places is fierce, so when it comes to filling in your application form, if you need any advice, then please contact the RDAC members on research@collegeofparamedics.co.uk and we will do our best to support you.
