Welcome back to another exciting Community of Practice interactive workshop! 
The hosts encourage participants to engage in discussion, if you feel confident have your cameras on and enjoy listening and talking with others, and reconnecting and getting people together. Due to the interactive nature of this session places are limited to 100.

For those of you that are new to the concept, Community of Practice, theorised in the early 1990’s, is a group of people who “share concerns or a passion for something they do and learn how to do it better as they interact regularly” (Etienne and Wenger-Trainer 2015). 

Following on from the successful session in July on body-worn cameras, we return with another fascinating topic, ‘shifting identities’. 

Are you a student soon to be qualifying and worry about receiving your new epaulettes? Are you already qualified and moving onto the next chapter, whether that be a supervisor, a role in critical care, academia, primary care, in-hospital or another venture. This transition and shift in identity can be daunting and many fear a state of imposter syndrome (Langford and Clance 1993), doubting our own skills, talents or accomplishments but we shouldn’t, we should trust our beliefs, trust in our achievements and with our knowledge and training enhance and enrich not only our own lives but the profession. 

During this session we’ll review some scenarios and discuss how imposter syndrome sets in and how it can be overcome through reflection. During the breakout rooms we further analyse the experience of participants and through collegiality learn from one another. In the breakout rooms we’ll provide support for those experiencing this shift in identify, listen to your anxieties or concerns and discuss ways to overcome them allowing you to achieve your ultimate goal.

The College of Paramedics welcomes back Sam Willis, Programme Lead in Paramedicine, based in Western Australia and Steve Poulton, Lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University and practicing UK Paramedic, to take you through this engaging and insightful event.
